Music & Publishing
Own Your Songs. Collect with Clarity.
Dark Lab Records Publishing is a UK publishing administration company with an office in Canada. Independent songwriters, artists, publishers and labels were losing royalties because songs were not registered with clean writers, splits and identifiers. The business needed a fast, trustworthy public site that explains the problem clearly and sends visitors straight into the dashboard where catalogs, royalties and statements live.

The Challenge
Most independent catalogs leave money behind. Song data sits in notes apps, splits live in chats, and royalty files arrive as attachments nobody reconciles. The site had to explain publishing administration in plain language, build trust with creators worldwide, and make logging in or registering the obvious next step.
Our Solution
We built a product-first website where the homepage sells the dashboard instead of publishing theory: register a work once, keep writers attached, review income by song and DSP, and export a statement when a collaborator or accountant asks. Audience pages for songwriters, publishers, labels and artists, a three-step how-it-works flow and dedicated service pages keep the homepage focused while still covering search topics.
Key Features Delivered
- Product-focused homepage with a clear Login / Register path
- Audience pages for songwriters, publishers, labels and artists
- Three-step workflow: create account, add songs and writers, track royalties
- Dashboard story: catalog control, royalty clarity and statement-ready exports
- Trust section with creators served, territories and industry memberships
- Service pages for catalog registration, royalty tracking and statements
- Publishing guides and blog to answer royalty questions for search
- Mobile-first, fast layout with search-friendly structure
Design & Development
The design had to feel like a music brand and still read like a serious business tool. We used a dark, cinematic hero with a bold headline, then moved into clean, light sections where the product does the talking. The royalty dashboard is shown in context, with earnings by month, per-song income by platform and clear paid or pending status, so visitors see exactly what they get when they log in.
- Brand-led hero with a bold Own your songs message
- Platform and creator marquee for instant credibility
- Problem to solution storytelling section
- Audience-based navigation for songwriters, publishers, labels and artists
- Dashboard previews for royalties, analytics and statements
- Mobile-first responsive layout
Launch & After Work
After launch we focused on making the site easy to find and easy to act on. Each service and audience page targets its own search topic, the homepage stays a product page, and the calls to action lead to the same dashboard login. We also tuned page speed so the heavy hero media does not slow down the first view.
- Search-friendly page structure and metadata
- Service and audience landing pages
- Page speed and image optimisation
- Conversion-focused calls to action
- Blog and guides for royalty questions
- Ongoing content and layout updates
Final Result
Dark Lab Records Publishing now has a website that matches the quality of its service. Creators understand the problem in seconds, see what the dashboard does, and have a clear way to log in or register. It is a focused, trustworthy front door for a publishing administration business.
